Monitoring in Support of Saginaw Bay Multi-Stressor Project
This project explores multi-stressor impacts on Saginaw Bay using state-of-the-art monitoring techniques. Led by researchers from the University of Michigan, it utilizes towed side-scan sonar and autonomous underwater vehicles for extensive area surveys, collecting vital data on turbidity, chlorophyll, and larval fish presence. Collaborating with various institutions across lakes and estuaries, the initiative aids in ground truthing remote sensing images using automated platforms and real-time telemetry. Insights gained will support Areas of Concern (AOCs) and Lakewide Action and Management Plans (LaMPs) across the region.
