  1. Mike Baker Memorial Fund Mike joined our Board of Trustees in 2007. He was a enthusiastic advocate of our mission to help able young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to maximise their academic potential. He was very involved in our work, helping us make connections with the right people and raising our profile by writing national articles that mentioned our work. He was so friendly and sensitive to everyone’s needs and will be greatly missed by us all at Villiers Park. To honour Mike’s memory we have established a fund to help disadvantagedstudents participate in the educational activities at Villiers Park. Through our Inspiring Excellence Programme of residential courses and our four-year Scholars Programme, students develop key skills, self-confidence, a passion for learning and academic success. The fund will support students who show high potential – the size of the fund will determine what form that help takes. Chrissy Baker feels that the idea of young people directly being helped would absolutely resonate with Mike and is delighted that we started this fund. Donations of all sizes are very much appreciated. You are welcome to donate to the Mike Baker Memorial Fund with either cheque or credit card; cheques should be made payable to Villiers Park Educational Trust (address on back of flier). Alternatively, you may visit www.villierspark.org.uk to donate with a credit card.

  3. Mike Baker with a group of Scholars at Villiers Park in 2011 “[The charity] … offers a cohesive and on-going programme of school-based mentoring, masterclasses, residential courses and crucially, advisory support within schools. The aim is simple: to ensure students get the grades to win top university places entirely on merit.” (Mike Baker, Guardian opinion column, 17 July 2012) “Fortunately one centre of excellence remains in the charitable sector. Villiers Park Educational Trust’s Scholars Programme focuses on gifted pupils in deprived areas of the country, offering concerted, longitudinal help in association with local schools and universities. Villiers Park does fantastic work.” (Mike Baker, Guardian article, 16 February 2010) For further information please contact Richard Gould or Kelly Dickson on 01223 872601, email kd@villierspark.org.uk Villiers Park Educational Trust Royston Road, Foxton Cambridge CB22 6SE www.villierspark.org.uk Mike discussing future plans with a Villiers Park Scholar Registered Charity No. 225920
