  3. VISION & MISSION Vision: Every individual excels in cross-cultural communication and creates a peaceful tomorrow for the whole world Mission: We add divine values to the whole world through effective cross-cultural communication, hence better solutions and quality peaceful life.

  4. RATIONALE There are many people who speak English well, and who have good knowledge of Islam, yet they are unable to communicate cross-culturally effectively in English on Islamic subjects primarily because they lack the proper terminology and right communication skills to do so.

  5. OBJECTIVES By the end of the program the participants will have acquired the following: • An improvement of the Islamic English Language competence • The ability to discuss Islamic concepts in English • The ability to give short presentations on Islamic topics of their choice • Reasonable knowledge of Islamic English terminology • An awareness of the subtleties and importance of language sensitivity in cross-cultural communication • Ignition of the passion to use English communication skills for presenting Islam

Requirements & DURATION Requirements • Willingness to present Islam in its true light. • Able to take part in a conversation on general topics. • Possess a basic level of fluency in English • Previous experience as a da’ee is not a must. Duration • The program consists of a total of 32 hours • 16 hours in class • 16 hours working on projects outside the class • This workshop may be offered as a 3 or 4-hour or 1-day workshop • Participants • Anyone who will be using English at work / life as a medium of communication (Doctors, English teachers, engineers, etc)

Workshop materials Course Materials • Basic concepts in Islam (Pamphlets) • The 90 Qs Powerpoint (What does Islam Stand For?) • Al-Jumah Magazine • Christian Muslim Dialogue • Christianity and Islam as seen in the Bible • Some video tapes/video streams for great presenters • The course will use materials found on the following websites http://www.sultan.org/ & http://www.islamworld.net/ www.dawahmemo.com

  10. METHODOLOGY & activities • Delivering on the spot 4-minute baseline talk • Burning Platform Scenario/act • Reading aloud/Visualization (Every week) • Why convert? Storytelling (Every week) • The Communication Ladder (An individual Exercise) • The Jigsaw Exercise (Team Exercise) • Observing mini-presentations delivered by participants • Tour Guidance • Field visit (Visiting Islamic centers) • Video watching famous speakers & team presentation • Conducting a dialogue with any target encounter Note: Participants and facilitators cooperate in learning & evaluation.

ACTIVITIES (cont.) • Real discussions with target audience • Responding to Misconceptions • Role play/scenarios • Attending a mini-lecture followed by questions • Delivering final presentations • Delivering real presentations (Optional) • Note: Participants and facilitators cooperate in learning & evaluation.

Evaluation strategy • The facilitators & participants conduct constant evaluation of the participants English language/communication skills using different Evaluation tools. • The purpose of this evaluation is to determine if the participants are applying the communication criteria and what they have learned in the workshop
