Mission Purpose To measurably improve the delivery of capital facilities. • Enhance business effectiveness and sustainability of the capital facility life cycle • Increase business success and expand global competitive advantage for its members through: • active involvement and participation • effective use of CII research findings, including CII Best Practices.

CII Principles • Place a premium on safety, ethics, continuousimprovement (cost, schedule, and quality), and leadership. • Maintain owner–contractor member balance. • Cultivate high member involvement and participation. • Lead industry improvement through an engaged membership. • Provide individual leadership development opportunities. • Promote a high level of knowledge transfer. • Maintain small professional staff.

Management, organization, and assessment of the 600+ CII publications; oversight of Communities of Practice. Knowledge Management Dissemination through publications, implementation guides, educational materials, workshops, and conferences. Knowledge Assessment Knowledge Dissemination Assessment of the impact of CII practices through benchmarking.

CII Organization Board of Advisors • Executive Committee (XC) • Provides leadership and direction for all of the Institute’s activities. • 11 Members: 6 Owners; 5 Contractors • Strategic Planning Committee (SPC) • Responsible for the development, evaluation, and update of the CII Strategic Plan, including monitoring industry trends and business drivers. • Strategic Communications Committee (SCC) • Responsible for the consistency and improvement of CII’s overall communications and value messaging. Knowledge Creation Knowledge Creation Breakthrough Strategy Committee Research Committee Academic Committee Research Committee (RC) • Develops policy to guide the research function and implement the research needs assessment process. Academic Committee (AC) • Primary forum for the academic community within CII, providing the process expertise of academia to CII. Breakthrough Strategy Committee (BSC) • Evaluates ideas from various sources, forwarding those with the most potential to the Research Committee for further evaluation. Implementation Resources • Implementation Roadmap provides a logical timeline for implementation activities. • Implementation Navigator provides resources, training materials and presentations to support the 15 CII Best Practices. • Performance Improvement Workshops (PIW) leverage the work of Implementation Champions and practitioners in improving construction project safety, quality, schedule, and cost performance. • Implementation Tool Box details the Implementation Model, providing contact to CII knowledge experts, and links to CII products and conference presentations. • Implementation Assistant is a Web-based tool that allows you to create and track implementation plans. • Knowledgeable Points of Contactare available to assist individuals on how to implement CII research findings in organizations.

  20. The Five BOA Member Responsibilities Direct an internal CII team to review current processes against CII norms. Develop an annual CII execution plan for capital project delivery process improvement. Personal involvement in BOA meetings, Annual Conference, and other CII activities. Nominate personnel for CII committees and research teams. Assure response to CII surveys.
