  2. REASONS • Need a new challenge every two years • Enrolment in Grad Cert programme • New learning environment for students • Using current technology. This represents a paradigm shift for our department • Innovative

  3. DEVELOPMENT • Blended learning • 6 Months work for 8 x 1 hour lessons • SME (Subject Matter Expert) • Excellent support and development team • Innovative fund at MIT/Pilot scheme • Outside normal teaching hours • Roofing module (Level 3) • Theory and calculations

  4. DEVELOPMENT (cont) • Self paced learning • 24/7 access • Interactive/Fun • Repeat assessment attempts • Instant feedback

  5. PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED • Not knowing how much time it was going to take to get set up • Over estimating what could be achieved in each session • Student’s lack of computer skills (logging on, etc..) • Not leaving enough time to double check

FEEDBACK Two postings from discussion board • “found this course on the pooter's very helpful in that all the info was at our fingertips and we could work at our own pace.Worth all the effort you put in to it”. • “Pooter,s are a fantastic way for bringing carpentry into the modern age. Will be very helpful in the days to come when using  pooter,s on the worksite, for calculating quantities, recording data, plans will be digitally recorded and altered via the net. Very exciting”.
