He met most famous artists at that time. They were Renoir, Cezanne, Whistler and Manet. In 1872, he visited Le Havre. There, he painted ‘Impression, Sunrise.’ The painting was exhibited in 1874. The title of the painting was used to name the art movement at that time. People called it ‘Impressionism.’ During the 1880s, Monet travelled through France and painted a variety of landscapes. For the last 30 years of his life, he was considered the greatest of the Impressionists. Monet is best known for his works Rouen Cathedral and Water Lilies. Monet died in 1926.
