  1. PA Turnpike, QuakertownApprox. Mile Marker 44.3 North VENEZIA Tanker Accident

  2. As it sits before starting but after off-loading over 40,000 lbs. of powder concrete mixture.

  3. Trailer is straddling a drainage ditch and still connected to the tractor.

  4. Tractor and trailer are fused together at 5th wheel. Axles are torn from tractor.

  5. Trailer still had residual product inside and was fighting to lay on its side. Strap was used high off forward wrecker (Holmes 750) to keep tanker level and on its wheels.

  6. The forward wrecker (Holmes 750) connected to the pivot point at the 5th wheel and the upper strap holding the trailer level. A medium wrecker was connected to the front of the tractor to guide it along.

  7. The rearward wrecker (NRC 35 ton) was connected to the rear of the trailer. The boom was raised to help the underside valves on the trailer clear the shoulder.

  8. MPI’s loader was used to stabilize at pivot point. Note: entire area was excavated due to diesel contamination.

  9. Overall view of scene just before starting the pull. Only the shoulder and one lane were blocked, traffic still going in passing lane.

  10. 5 lines pulling in unison in different directions and 1 loader pushing. Slowly but surely…..

  11. As a unit, the wreck was pulled across the drainage ditch and onto the shoulder, ending up parked straight in the shoulder.

  12. Almost looks drivable from here……

  13. The product inside had to be shoveled down to the bottom and centered to keep the trailer from leaning.

  14. The trucks were repositioned so the trailer could be separated from the tractor. The tractor was being readied to place on the carrier.

  15. The 5th wheel was cut from the tractor frame then cut away from the trailer to prepare for towing.

  16. Once the two were separated, they were prepared for loading / towing.

  17. The tractor was placed on the carrier and tied down…the only thing over the 13’6” limit was a CB antenna.

  18. The trailer was towed using an A-frame setup on the Holmes 750.

  19. Leftover parts (axles) were loaded onto other trucks for the ride back to our Emmaus location.

  20. Like a parade, all the trucks lined up and proceeded to the Emmaus yard.

  21. This is PureStock country, we can handle it…..- - - THE END - - -
