  2. Group Questions Make a list of “blessings” the Lord has given you. Why is it important for us to thank Him for these blessings & make thankfulness a natural part of our lives? Read Psalm 103 and make a list of all of the “benefits” of the Lord for which the Psalmist reminds us we should be thankful. Does God expect us to be thankful even when circumstances don’t turn out as we hoped? Does He expect us to give thanks through gritted teeth by sheer willpower when in our hearts we are truly disappointed?

  3. Ungodliness Living one’s everyday life with little or no thought of God, or of God’s will, or of God’s glory, or of one’s dependence on God

  4. 2 Timothy 3:1-5 But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people

  5. 2 Timothy 3:1-5 But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty.

  6. Romans 1:21-22 For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools,

  7. Deuteronomy 8:11-14 "Take care lest you forget the LORD your God by not keeping his commandments and his rules and his statutes, which I command you today, lest, when you have eaten and are full and have built good houses and live in them, and when your herds and flocks multiply and your silver and gold is multiplied and all that you have is multiplied, then your heart be lifted up, and you forget the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery…

  8. Deuteronomy 8:17-18 Beware lest you say in your heart, 'My power and the might of my hand have gotten me this wealth.' You shall remember the LORD your God, for it is he who gives you power to get wealth, that he may confirm his covenant that he swore to your fathers, as it is this day.

  9. Reasons for Ingratitude Affluence Pride Forgetfulness Habit

  10. Philippians 4:6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God

  11. Colossians 2:6-7 As you have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving

  12. Colossians 3:15-17 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

  13. Ephesians 5:4 Let there be no filthiness nor foolish talk nor crude joking, which are out of place, but instead let there be thanksgiving.

  14. 15. Romans 8:28 And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.

  16. Jerry Bridges Father, the circumstance I am in now is difficult and painful. I would not have chosen it, but You in Your love and wisdom chose it for me. You intend it for my good, and so by faith I thank You for the good you are going to do in my life through it. Help me to genuinely believe this and be able to thank You from my heart.”

  17. Romans 8:38-39 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord
