Make a list of “blessings” the Lord has given you. Why is it important for us to thank Him for these blessings & make thankfulness a natural part of our lives?

Read Psalm 103 and make a list of all of the “benefits” of the Lord for which the Psalmist reminds us we should be thankful.

Does God expect us to be thankful even when circumstances don’t turn out as we hoped? Does He expect us to give thanks through gritted teeth by sheer willpower when in our hearts we are truly disappointed?

2 timothy 3 1 5

2 Timothy 3:1-5

But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people

Deuteronomy 8:11-14

"Take care lest you forget the LORD your God by not keeping his commandments and his rules and his statutes, which I command you today, lest, when you have eaten and are full and have built good houses and live in them, and when your herds and flocks multiply and your silver and gold is multiplied and all that you have is multiplied, then your heart be lifted up, and you forget the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery…

deuteronomy 8 17 18

Deuteronomy 8:17-18

Beware lest you say in your heart, 'My power and the might of my hand have gotten me this wealth.' You shall remember the LORD your God, for it is he who gives you power to get wealth, that he may confirm his covenant that he swore to your fathers, as it is this day.

Father, the circumstance I am in now is difficult and painful. I would not have chosen it, but You in Your love and wisdom chose it for me. You intend it for my good, and so by faith I thank You for the good you are going to do in my life through it. Help me to genuinely believe this and be able to thank You from my heart.”
