  4. Nitinol Archwire • Shape Memory Alloy • Made of Nickel and Titanium in almost equal amounts • Nitinol archwires—Don’t need retightening • Stainless steel—Do need retightening.

  5. Benefits • Fewer appointments need to be made for the patient • Reduced pain • Stainless steel can form ‘kinks’
