A Contagem de Tempo nas Aposentadorias do RGPS/INSS   A Lei Federal n° 8.213 de 24/07/1991 Concessão de benefícios previdenciários - Regime Geral de Previdência Social/RGPS – Instituto Nacional do Seguro Social/INSS   O art. 1° estabelece a Previdência Social como SISTEMA CONTRIBUTIVO, com a finalidade de ASSEGURAR AOS SEUS BENEFICIÁRIOS, meios indispensáveis de manutenção, por motivo de: INCAPACIDADE (Aposentadoria por Invalidez – Auxílio Doença – Auxílio Acidente), IDADE AVANÇADA (Aposentadoria por Idade), TEMPO DE SERVIÇO (Aposentadoria por Tempo de Serviço e Contribuição e Especial), ENCARGOS FAMILIARES (Salário Maternidade – Salário Família), PRISÃO (Auxílio Reclusão) ou MORTE (Pensão por Morte).
