  4. Please do the following: • Put your First Last name on the front of your notebook • Put your HOUR after your name • Go into both sections, the JOURNALS and the MUGS. Circle AND highlight the label for each. • Ex.: J#9 9/ 25 MUGS #10 9/26226

Tomorrow - Tuesday: • Open -note quiz on a personal narrative reading • You will do the following: • Read it • Answer various comprehension and analysis questions about it • Analyze the story for elements of a personal narrative it has • Due by the end of the hour Review elements of a personal narrative in your notes::

Wednesday: • Open-note quiz analyzing a Native American story [ on your own ] • You will do the following: • Read it • Answer comprehension/analysis questions • Analyze the story for the 4 ORAL TRADITION ELEMENTS and… - locate a supporting quote - cite the quote - explain why/how the quote demonstrates an ELEMENT is present What are the 4 elements of the Native American Oral Tradition?

TODAY: • Prepare your notebook for Thursday’s turn-in • Due at the start of the class period on Thursday • Read your novel and answer these questions for a class discussion last 10 minutes of class: • Who is your favorite character and why? • Who is your least favorite character and why? • What is one question you would ask the author? • Would you recommend this novel to others? Explain:

Today -- Tuesday: • Open -note quiz on a personal narrative reading • Answer on the quiz sheet: • Read “The Right Stuff,” pp. 79-81 • Answer “Check Your Comprehension” questions 1-3, p. 81 • Answer “Critical Thinking” questions 1-3, p. 81 • Analyze the story for elements of a personal narrative a. Identify the element you found b. Prove it by quoting from the story AND citing the page number from text where you found it c. Explain why the quote proves the narrative has that particular element • DUE END OF THE HOUR– quietly read your novel or do other homework if you finish early

  21. MYTH:fictional story explaining gods, heroes, and origins of earthly life (origin myth) LEGEND: traditional story about a person which reflects a culture’s values. Often believed to be “historically true,” it isn’t or can’t be proven. TALL TALE: wild adventure tale about a realor fictitious person enjoyed for it’s imaginative telling – roots in oral tradition.
