  2. Manchester's Approach • All agencies to have a sense of ownership and to champion the local offer • Seeing local offer as a way to widen choice and participation • Parents and young people have been involved from the start

  3. The website - 11 areas as main headings that can be searched as indicated opposite. Families are able to shortlist and search by area More than just a directory – a place to share good news and information about events etc. We have a monthly ‘Local Offer’ working group that is attended by parents and professionals. Manchester is investing money in a new website for it’s ‘customers’ and the Local Offer will be on this website. This will mean that people go to one place and will be able to carry on shopping for support 26 years onwards. List of services people can currently search on: Progress so far… Education, Training and Work Getting Involved Parent Support Groups Health Independent Living Law and your Rights Money Short Breaks Places to Go Travel and Transport Where to Get Help

  4. Coproduction – Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital and Cath, Manchester parent Central Manchester hospital offering a local offer hub from April 2014.

  5. Melland High School Information Fairs at schools – Get information and chances for families to come and share experiences and ask questions

  6. Conferences for professionals, young people and families • Really important in spreading the word! We have worked with our parents forum who chose to use to their grant money from Contact a Family to run two conferences in the last 12 months. • A community paediatrician who attended has now become very pro active and is championing the local offer with health colleagues. • Several schools have come forward asking to be involved in the local offer • One college has arranged a Local offer evening to share information with families

  7. Local Offer templates • We ran a co-production workshop with schools, colleges and parents to devise templates with prompts for schools/colleges to critique their websites - we're now running similar workshops with other types of services • Some schools have now published their Local Offers

  8. We have parent volunteers on the Local Offer group. We have held a number of very successful conferences for Parents and Carers and will continue these. We have started to run ‘local offer hubs’ in different localities and will continue to grow these – These are essential as families still want to have face to face contact, those who don’t speak English or can’t use the internet Consultation with Parent /Carers Parents for Change Event March 2014

  9. Reaching out to our partners has been key We have put on a number of events at schools and will continue to do so We have parents skilled in pulling events together and making new links We have had numerous workshops with schools , colleges and Health to look at what should be provided We have champions in Health We have School Champions who have published their local offer Consultation in the wider context

  10. Headteacher blogs about her school’s Local Offer “As a school we are also responding to and planning for the changes which are ahead of us relating to the reforms to the SEN Code of Practice. The revised Code of Practice is still in draft form but will become statutory from September 2014. All Local Authorities and schools will be required to publish their own 'Local Offer' detailing what provision is available. The Local Offer for our school has now been published on our website - see the page labelled 'Local Offer' ” http://www.camberwellpark.manchester.dbprimary.com/manchester/primary/camberwellpark/site/pages/ourlocaloffer” Mary Isherwood Headteacher, Camberwell Park Specialist Primary School
