  2. A Whole New World. Microsoft Excel has a new look and feel from what you have used in previous versions. For starters: You don’t have a Formatting Palette, it’s all in the Toolbars sections at the top.

  3. A Look At The Toolbars Basics on Spreadsheets

  4. Take a look around. This is from the Home tab. Formula Bar Filters Sort Templates Formatting Themes Auto Sum Cut Copy Fill Color Paste Depending on the size of your screen, you may or may not get an icon for Border lines. If it does appear, it will be in the Font section, along with the Fill Color.

  5. The Layout Section. Layout – This includes Orientation View – some Views come With different Features. Print – This speeds Up the process of Selecting how to Print. Window – You Can split the Screen to view More at the Same time.

  12. A Little About Spreadsheets

  13. A spreadsheet can be many things. Money & Finance Scheduling Or something else requiring organization.

  14. Nuts and Bolts Spreadsheets are put in what is called a Workbook. You can have several spreadsheets within a notebook. Spreadsheets are pages with divisions that are vertical and horizontal. The vertical are columns, the horizontal are rows. Columns Rows

  15. Coordinates and Formulas

  16. This area tells which cell has been selected. This box, called the Formula Bar, Gives you the number that is in the Selected cell. Sometimes you will need to Enter a formula, this is where it goes.

  17. Entering the data: Use Tab to move to the right, Return to move down. Use the arrow keys on your keyboard for more control.

  18. Formulas Formulas are mathematical equations to determine a value for something. Formulas can be very basic (adding, subtracting) or complex (requiring the Formula Builder).

  19. Basic adding. Type in two numbers, in two cells, one on top of the other. Go down and click on a cell that is about three rows below, then click on the blue Sigma icon at the top. Move the corners of the box that is created to highlight only the numbers you are adding. Hit Enter and you have created your first formula!

  20. Borders If you want to add a line underneath, the easiest way to add a line underneath is to use the Command + 1 shortcut. Then click on the Border tab to create the line, and the type of line you want.

  21. Fill Color There are two ways to add fill color to your cell. You could use the Command + 1 shortcut and go to the Fill tab, or you could use the paint bucket on the Home tab on your toolbars to get the same results. No Fill turns it back to white.
