Current Events (Set 3) 1. “Grito ‘Cry’ de Dolores: Mexico Celebrates Independence Day from Spain, 9/16/1810.” Father Hidalgo rang church bells that started revolt against Spain that ended colonial rule in 1821. The Battle of Guanajuato Village of Dolores Cinco de Mayo celebrates a victory vs France in 1862 Battle of the Puebla
Current Event #2 2. “Constitution Day Celebrates 225th Birthday of the United States of America Government: 9/17/1787.” 39 members of the Constitution Convention from 13 states signed & created our 3 branches of government. Madison Washington Franklin The Constitution Convention lasted 4 months; the Bill of Rights were ratified 4 years later
