  2. Women are at risk of decreasing stores of iron in their bodies due to menstruation and not ingesting enough iron-rich foods to replace the lost iron. Hence, iron-rich nutrition is very important for women. It is extremely important for women to ensure an iron-rich and well-balanced diet. Iron is required to aid and help the red blood cells transport oxygen to the rest of the body for smooth functioning of the organs. You can either ingest iron in the form of organic sources or invest in Doctor’s recommended Iron Supplement– Livogen tablets. In our body, iron has the following main functions: - Transportation and storing of oxygen - Energy production and cell respiration - Boosting of the immune system - Helping with the production of white blood cells to fight bacteria

  3. Women are more prone to being iron-deficient. Image: express.co.uk This causes their energy levels to drop drastically, which in turn causes fatigue. One of the biggest reasons that presents itself as the need for higher levels of iron in the body are menstrual cycles. Since iron travels through the medium of blood, a lot of iron is lost. The massive blood loss a woman’s body experiences during menstruation gets her body rid of a large portion of her iron stocks.

  4. Other reasons apart from menstruation that may cause a dearth of the nutrient in the body are: Image: healthfully.com • • • Diet low in iron Diet low in Vitamin C Frequent dieting It is advised to include iron tablets for women in their diets to ensure a steady supply of the nutrient.

  5. There is a specific iron intake that is advised during pregnancy. Image: livescience.com During pregnancy, the volume of blood plasma increases by almost 50%. This results in the iron content present in the blood to be severely diluted. Hence, it is prudent for pregnant women to consume a larger amount of iron due to the increased red blood cell volume. This is required to meet the nutrient needs of the baby, the placenta, and the mother herself. Apart from this, there is quite a lot of blood loss during the delivery of the baby. To combat the iron decreased due to the blood loss, women are asked to ingest a lot more iron during their second and third trimesters.

  6. Image: journalby.com The recommended daily dosage of iron for women depends on their age and the stage of life they are at now. Women who currently are in their childbearing years require about 15mg of iron per day. Pregnant women are asked to consume up to 30mg of iron per day, and lactating and breastfeeding women should ingest 10mg of iron daily. Menopausal women can afford to lower their iron intake to 10mg per day. Keep in mind that only 15% of the iron we ingest is actually absorbed by our bodies. So, make sure to invest in Vitamin C supplements along with Doctor’s recommended Iron Supplement– Livogen tablets, as they aid in maximum absorption and retention of iron by the body.

  7. Iron-rich food sources are plenty. Image: vixendaily.com Certain foods can often inhib it the absorption of the nutrient, such as milk, cheese, and tea. These foods should not be consumed at the same time as iron-rich foods. Due to the presence of a high amount of calcium in the foods, these are known to interfere with the absorption of iron.

  8. Iron-rich food sources are plenty. Image: vixendaily.com The foods that are known to have large stores of iron are: • Red meats • Liver • Bran cereals • Broccoli • Kidney beans • Potato In case you are unable to incorporate all the organic sources of iron in your diet, be sure to invest in iron tablets for women to bridge the gap. Consult your doctor before coming to a conclusion about your nutrition needs.
