The Challenge • UF faculty, staff, and students will pledge to commute by an alternative • to single-occupancy vehicle travel on One Less Car Day and as often as possible throughout the fall semester. • Individuals and Departmental teams will be able to track their collective commitment online. • Individual participants will receive a One Less Car button indicating the mode of transportation they have pledged to take, which can be worn throughout the year. • Registration for the One Less Car Challenge begins Aug. 23 • Members of the UF community can find out more information, sign-up for the challenge, and join a UF department or organization’s team online at: www.sustainable.ufl.edu/onelesscar. More information on how to sign up on slides 4-15.

One Less Car Celebration • The One Less Car challenge will begin with an alternative transportation fair September 1, 10AM – 2PM, Reitz Union North Lawn • A number of organizations that support alternative transportation will offer information, services and hands-on demonstrations • On Oct. 6, the One Less Car Day festivities will include prize drawings, and other fun games and activities • The challenge is just beginning! Keep track of your progress using the online tool, and you and your team can be eligible for more great prizes throughout the semester

  4. TAKE The Challenge Follow the link in the header of the Office of Sustainability website (www.sustainable.edu.edu) to the One Less Car webpage. Or, visit http://www.sustainable.ufl.edu/onelesscar

  5. Instructions Once on the One Less Car webpage, click on “Take the Challenge” or navigate directly to http://uf/greenride.com

  6. Instructions If you are already registered with GreenRide, log in to your account (skip to slide 10) If you need to register with GreenRide, please Create an Account

  7. Instructions Enter your name, email, and a password that you will remember easily Agree to the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy Click Next

  8. Instructions • Enter your start address • Click Save On the next page, enter your destination address or a Point of Interest on campus Click Save

  9. Instructions GreenRide is also our campus carpool program. If you are interested in trying a carpool for the challenge, please note your preferences. If you are not interested in carpooling, uncheck all days of the week and click Save at the bottom of the screen.

  11. Instructions Join a Team Search for your department or unit Create your own team (More details for team captains on slide 16-17) Join an existing team

  12. Instructions Complete the survey questions using the drop down menus and click Enroll to complete your registration

  13. Ready to go • Your Personal Challenge Page • Keep up with information about special events and point earning opportunities • Monitor the progress of your team • Log your trips on the commute calendar

  14. Ready to go • When you login to your account you will arrive at your personal information page. Here you can: • Check on your personal status or the status of your team • Fill in your commuter calendar to earn points

  15. Log Your Commutes • The commuter calendar is designed to be quick and easy. • Click the alternative transportation mode that you used for the day • Click the days that the mode was used • Click another mode if needed, followed by the days on the calendar for that mode

  16. Team Captains As a captain, you will need to communicate with the members of your team to send reminders, updates and instructions. You can email your team members with a few simple steps: • From your My Challenge Screen, • Click Edit Team Info • Then Scroll down and click Mail Team Members

Team Captains Then, just enter your message and click Send Email The Office of Sustainability will periodically send reminders and updates to team captains about “mini-challenges” within One Less Car for you to share with your teammates. There are some simple, easy things we will ask you to do, like promote One Less Car in your department and contact your team members to remind them of the challenge.
