  2. Launching of the WWDR3: Representation of UN and UN-Water at the highest level Over 1,100 participants attended the launching ceremony of the WWDR3

Media Coverage of the WWDR3 Since its press-launch on 12 March 2009 WWDR3 has triggered several hundreds of press dispatches in six UN-languages and various others including: Le Monde (front page main story), Agence France Presse (France), Le Temps (Swiss), Reforma (Mexico), The New York Times (US), Xinhua (China), El Mundo (Spanish), The Guardian (UK), The Economist (UK), Scientific American (US), Al Jazzeera (Qatar), National Geographic (International), Associated Press (US) among others.

  4. WWAP website visits, March 2009 Geographic concentration of web visitors: The visits came from 3,824 cities from 191 countries 600,000 hits in March 09 for the WWDR3

WWAP Publications Concept paper for G8 and technical paper for COP15 • WWAP contributed a concept paper to the 2009 G8 Summit (July 09 in Abruzzo, Italy). • WWAP is coordinating the preparation of a paper to the COP15 Meeting on Climate Change (December ‘09) with a paper on behalf of UN-Water.

Dissemination of WWAP publications WWAP is working to disseminate copies to partners, funders, decision-makers, information centers, libraries, etc… o WWDR3 and Case Studies: Almost 5000 copies of the report were distributed during the first two weeks after the launch and almost 8000 in total. o Messages series: 7,000 copies were distributed during the 5th World Water Forum and 10,000 have been disseminated in total. o Side publications series: 9,000 copies were distributed at the 5th World Water Forum.

WWAP CONTRIBUTIONS TO AND PARTICIPATION IN EVENTS AND PROCESSES OF GLOBAL RELEVANCE • G8 Water and Sanitation Experts meeting • CSD 16 WWAP side event: • Water in a Changing World: Emerging Trends in the WWDR3 • WWAP co-hosted side event: Monitoring Global Freshwater Resources • CSD 17: • WWAP side event: Water in a Changing World: Findings of the WWDR3 • COP 15 (planned)

  8. New Premises • WWAP’s move to the new premises in Villa La Colombella, Perugia is complete. • Currently 13 Staff members on board, • Several Workshops, meetings and training have been organized in the new premises in the past two years.

  10. Funding Situation • The ratification process of the Agreement for WWAP between UNESCO and the Italian Government is ongoing and is expected to be completed by the end of this year. • WWAP expects to receive a similar level of funding as in the past. • In addition the regional Government of Umbria will continue to make the premises of Villa Colombella available free of charge for the programme.
