VOLLEYBALL UNDERARM SERVICE • Split stance: opposite foot forward to serving hand • Swing your service arm straight back • Toss the ball up, swing your arm forward • Contact the ball with the heel of your palm • Follow through and point in direction the ball is going Top tip: Transfer your weight from back foot to front foot to add more power

  2. VOLLEYBALL OVERHEAD SERVICE • - Split stance: opposite foot forward to serving hand • - Swing your service arm back next to your head, toss the ball up • Hit the ball with the heel of your palm Top tip: Transfer your weight from back foot to front foot to add more power

  3. VOLLEYBALL THE SET • Same technique as the volley • Played above the head • The second ball is always the setters • Get into position to set the attacking player up • Push the ball up high Top tip: Keep your eyes on the ball and communicate with your team mates

  4. VOLLEYBALL VOLLEY TECHNIQUE • Fingers and hands form triangle formation • Played above the head • Pushed with fingers, NOT a slap • Bend your knees and push the ball up to get more height and power Top tip: Push the ball up high, this gives your team mate more time to get into position to play the next shot

  5. VOLLEYBALL BLOCK TECHNIQUE • Keep your eyes on the ball • Watch the setters and attacking players • Jump straight up, as high as possible • Raise both arms up high • Spread your fingers out to block the ball • Top tip: Block with another member of your team to make it harder for the ball to pass you

  6. VOLLEYBALL DIG TECHNIQUE • Hands clasped together, arms out in front • Knees bent, get down low • Keep your eyes on the ball • Ball is hit on forearm muscle • Top tip: Control is key

  7. VOLLEYBALL SPIKE TECHNIQUE • Take above head height • Aim with non striking hand • Attack the ball near net • Reach up high with the arm straight, elbow extended • Jump up high • Angle/aim for the ground and apply power to it is un-returnable Top tip: The steeper the angle and the greater the power - the harder it is to return/block

  8. VOLLEYBALL THE COURT 3 4 Defence Zone Attack Zone 2 5 SERVING ZONE 1 6 NET • Player 1 is the first person to serve • Rotate clockwise • On rotation, player 6 would then become the second server
