This project focuses on forming local partnerships to implement a hydro power plant on an irrigation canal in Méailles city. Despite facing challenges such as securing water rights and funding, the project aims to create an environmentally responsible and sustainable energy solution. Future steps include improving project economics, conducting hydrological studies, and finalizing the production plan with the Canal of Provence Company. Through the Greenpartnerships project, the goal is to propose investments and promote local ownership for a successful outcome.

Local partnerships for the implementation of an hydro power plant on an irrigation canal, in Méailles city • Targets • 2007: pre-feasibility study of an hydroelectric power plant project –by a private operator- for the irrigators association • 2010: accompanying by the GERES for an environmentally-responsible project • 2010: project dismissed by the local authority (DDT) • 2011: research by the irrigation association of the aboriginal water right, and submit for recognition to the local authority • 2012: setting up of the LAG about the project, with the municipality, the local authority which name is “Pays A3V”, with the aim to develop a project with a collaborative governance, a conservation of the natural heritage • 2013 : the Canal of Provence Company studies the transition to a sprinkling irrigation system, coupled with the hydroelectric project.
