  4. Main collaboration tools:Availability Lync knows about the appointments that you have in your calendar and sets automatically your status accordingly. Examples: - You are on holidays, Lync will set “Out of office”. - You have a meeting, Lync will set “In a meeting”. - You have an appointment, Lync will set “Busy”. 3

  5. Main collaboration tools:Searching for CERN people • I need to call Telma Mantas… • With Lync we have direct access to: • Numbers of CERN phonebook. • Our contacts in Outlook. • As you see, calling a person is quite easy: type • the name and clicking one button. 4

Lync as your desk phone:Easy way of making calls • Tired of having to search for a number and type it manually? • With Lync you can call your contacts with a single click. • You can search for CERN people and call them in one click. • If you have an external number, just paste it and press “Call”. Really easy… 7

  9. Lync as your desk phone:Forwarding calls feature Setting up call forwarding in 2 clicks: • Other options are: • Forwarding to the voice mail. • To our delegates. • To any CERN number • More details in the demo… 8

Lync as your desk phone:Voice mailbox & missed-calls • Lync is not running, or a person left a message on your voice mailbox: • Voice message forwarded to your inbox. • Missed incoming calls (busy, away, out of office…) • Notifications to your inbox about missed calls. • In the voice mail notification we have: • The information of the caller. • An audio file attached • A preview of the message • In the missed call notification we have: • All the information of the caller. • The time when the call was made. 9

  12. Connection from outside CERN What if you are away from your office but still want to be connected? Lync offers three useful functionalities: • Take your laptop: • Chat with your contacts using webmail (OWA) https://mmm.cern.ch/owa • Be connected by using your mobile phone. Lync is available for Android, Windows Phone, iPhone and iPad. 11

How to start using Lync as your desk phone? • Detailed information in https://espace.cern.ch/mmmservices-help • Briefly, two simple steps: • EDH request to register. • Subscribe to e-group “lync-subscription” to be updated.
