Phase III/IV Technical Workshop

Join the Phase III/IV Task Team - FEJF for an introduction to the context and objectives of the technical workshop. Learn how to derive adjustments for baseline and projection inventories of prescribed fire emissions. Explore criteria to consider for adjustments and dig into available data to create justifications. Stay disciplined, open-minded, patient, and dedicated to preparing the final products.

  1. Phase III/IV Technical Workshop Introduction and Context Ph III/IV Task Team - FEJF

  2. Context of the Tech Workshop • To build planning emission inventories (EI) of prescribed (Rx) fire for the WRAP. • Day 1 – Baseline (2000-2004) EI for Rx Fire • Day 2 – Projection (2018) EI for Rx Fire • Planning EIs are nominal for the period (not actual/historical). Ph III/IV Task Team - FEJF

  3. Context of the Tech Workshop • Phase II EI is default EI…this purpose of this workshop is to derive the adjustments (must be justified) to create the baseline and projection inventories. Ph III/IV Task Team - FEJF

  4. Context of the Tech Workshop • Criteria to consider to derive adjustments • Weather • Fuel • Temporal Allocation • Location • Fuel Loading Conditions • Ratio broadcast:pile • Funding • Regulatory Environment • Fire Categorization (Natural Anthropogenic) • Other ??Other Criteria?? Ph III/IV Task Team - FEJF

  5. Context of the Tech Workshop • Overview of the method to do this… • Give looks into the information to get people thinking about how to build the planning EIs. • Have active discussions. • Dig into the available data “on demand” to provide specific data breakdowns. • Actually put pen on paper and create adjustments and justifications. Ph III/IV Task Team - FEJF

  6. Context of the Tech Workshop • How we can be successful… • Stay disciplined (we’re building nominal inventories for Rx fire). • Stay open minded (we need all the ideas we can get). • Stay patient (we’re making this up as we go along). • Stay dedicated to the preparing the final products.
