  2. Background WP4 Evaluation Methodology WP4.1 Methodology and Evaluation Plan WP4.2 Data Provision WP4.3 Data Assurement WP4.4 Data Analysis WP4.5 Final Evaluation Report WP4.6 Evaluation of Network Performance Open Issues Summary

  3. Background • FREILOT has four services interlinked in an incentive, win-win scheme. • The first objective of the project is to evaluate the actual performance of the scheme and provide tangible results in form of % of fuel savings

  4. WP4: Evaluation methodology • Main objectives: ensure a common and objective evaluation of the data gathered in the four test sites: • Developing a common methodology and an Evaluation plan. • Following-up the logging. • Analysing the data recorded. • Preparing the final report including the final conclusions. • Description of work: • Task 4.1. Methodology and Evaluation Plan. • Task 4.2. Data provision. • Task 4.3. Data assurement. • Task 4.4. Data analyses. • Task 4.5. Final evaluation report. • Task 4.6. Evaluation of the network performance.

  5. Task4.1: Methodology and evaluation plan (I) • Specification of WHAT data will be collected for the evaluation of each system. • Data from vehicle. • Data from environment. • Data from driver. • Specification of HOW it will be collected. • Data from different sources. • Specific equipments for recording the information. • Specification of HOW it will be evaluated. • Definition of performance indicators. • Evaluation of fuel consumption. • Evaluation of time to delivery impact. • Evaluation of driver acceptability.

  6. Task4.1: Methodology and evaluation plan (II) Specification of the Evaluation plan. • Definition of the strategy to perform the tests: data base collection, trucks in parallel with different services or tests with all systems. • Dependencies with other WPs. • Pilot sites & implementations:

  7. Task4.2: Data provision • Two main phases operational phases: • Phase 0 (first 3 months): data will be recorded without FREILOT. • Phase 1 (last 9 moths): data will be recorded with FREILOT active. • Data recorder system ¿?. • Directly related to WP3 Operation.

  8. Task4.3: Data assurement • Development of methods and tools for data validation and verification. • Following of the operation phase in the four tests sites. • During the operational phase, previous evaluations for guarantee the usefulness and quality of the data recorded will be performed.

  9. Task4.4: Data analysis • Preliminary data analysis. • Statistical analyses of the data collected during the operational phase. • Data analyses responsible. • Peek Traffic: support on the intersection data analyses. • VOLVO: Lyon data analyses (focused in vehicle). • CNRS-LET: Lyon data analyses. • Grand Lyon: Lyon data analyses (focused in intersection control). • CTAG: Helmond and Bilbao data analyses. • CERTH: Warsaw data analyses.

  10. Task4.5: Final Evaluation Report • Elaboration of conclusions. • Final Evaluation Report development. • Responsible: • VOLVO/CNRS-LET: Lyon. • CTAG: Helmond and Bilbao. • CERTH: Warsaw.

  11. Task4.6: Evaluation of the network performance • Evaluation of the network performance using indicators from the urban traffic control systems. • Definition of data to be collected. • Specification of methods and tools. • Contribution to the final evaluation report

  12. Participants

  13. Planning • D.FL. 4.1 Evaluation Methodology and Plan  Month of delivery 4. • D.FL.4.2 Final Evaluation Report  Month of delivery 30.

  14. To discuss (I) • Evaluation plan. • Coordination of operational phases: phase 0 (without FREILOT) and phase 1 (with FREILOT). • Run sequentially or run in parallel to avoid influence of other variables (e.g. weather conditions). • Different lorries, different tests sites, different services. • Data assurement. • Statistical valid data: number of trucks, how many km., etc. • Logging tools: • Which logging tools should be used? • Do we need extra sensors to complement the logging tools?

  15. To discuss (II) • Evaluation of services. • Definition of evaluation objectives for each service hypothesis. • Specification of data to be collected  evaluation objectives/hypothesis. • “Parking booking” service has specific characteristics that influence the evaluation. • Merging results • How can we say that on overall level these services have provided X% of fuel savings?. • Fix the final date for the WP4.1 Meeting.
