AE3-030 Computational Fluid and Solid Mechanics Goals: • To introduce the student to the relationships between physical processes and their numerical models. • To provide the student experience with the successes and failures of numerical models and foster a critical attitude towards numerical results.

  2. Computational Fluid and Solid Mechanics Methods: • Example-based lectures supported by fundamental concepts • Simple experiments concentrated on understanding the behavior of numerical models (not design questions) • All material to be placed in context

  4. Computational Fluid and Solid Mechanics Summary: • At the end of the course, the student should have the understanding and critical attitude necessary for performing reliable numerical solutions, and interpreting their results in the context of the engineering problem at hand.

  5. Computational Fluid and Solid Mechanics Work schedule: • 2x7 weeks 9 ECTS course (lectures + practical) • Twice weekly 2-hour lecture. • Weekly 4-hour practical session. • Weekly home-work assignment. • Final grade based on home-work and practicals. • Pass rate year 2005-2006: > 85%
