  2. MPN: Master Promissory Note • This form promises repayment, and is signed by a student or parent when taking out a PLUS or Stafford Loan.

  3. NeedAnalysis • Process used to determine student’s need for financial assistance by comparing COA (cost of attendance) with the EFC (expected family contribution).

  4. Need-based • Need-based financial aid is reserved for low-income students.

  5. Net Price Calculator • Calculator that allows prospective students to calculate an estimated net price at an institution using the following basic formula: Price of attendance minus grant aid. Based on the information entered by the student, an average net price of attendance is generated based on what similar students paid in previous year.

  6. Non-RenewableScholarship • A scholarship that is awarded one time only.
