  3. Creating a New Account Tip: Use an appropriate email address, & check it often. Colleges communicate with prospective students almost entirely through email.

  4. Tips: -Create a 1st year account, not a transfer account -Be sure to enter name exactly as it appears on official legal documents -Students can opt-out of receiving communications

  5. Tips: Add schools to your Dashboard with college search tab. Don’t forget that the help center will have answers if you get stuck.

  6. Tips: Sort by deadline to stay organized Delete schools you are no longer applying to and stay organized Once app is complete, a submit button will become available Enter type of admission plan when you add a school to your dashboard to see deadlines

  7. Types of Admission • Early Action-apply early (usually by Nov 1) and get notified of acceptance early (usually before Jan 1) • Early Decision-like early Action but binding. You must attend that school if admitted. Requires a contract signed when submitting app. You can only apply to 1 school Early Decision. • Regular Decision-apply by regular application deadline. Before you submit tips- • Save and preview application. • View all supplemental information. • Record your user name, password, and Common app. ID number. • Sign and date your application. • Payment. • Remember that senior year grades are important. First semester grades can help borderline applicants. • Admission offers are always contingent on keeping grades up.
