  2. . Four Steps in developing your OV-7Step 1 - Identify the Product's Timescale • Decide on the timescale that this product is expected to represent (as-is, to-be, transitional) • Multiple timescales are often needed for each product; a separate OV-7 should be produced for each timescale that is needed

  3. Step 2 - Reference Existing Architecture Products • Review the following products to determine and extract the components that may apply to the OV-7: • OV-5 Activity Model • Interrelated activities • CV-1 Overview and Summary Information • External links • OV-2 Operational Node Connectivity Description • Operational nodes • OV-3 Operational Information Exchange Matrix • Information exchange requirements • OV-6a Operational Rules Model • Operational rules

  4. Step 3 – Rationalise Data • Model Data • Conduct iterative discussions with analysts, users and other subject matter experts to fully understand the data requirements and to capture such understanding in a logical data model • Analyse Data • Perform iterative analysis to ensure that the logical data model is complete • Normalise Data • Review the key and non-key attributes of each entity type to ensure that the model is decomposed to the appropriate normalisation level

  5. Step 4 - Illustrate Data Model • Graphically depict the components of the logical data model using the template provided • Create different views of the logical data model to depict the data requirements of specific subsets of the architecture

  6. Template • A Process Logic diagram (IDEF1X) template has been provided, following this slide • Don’t forget to update all complementary products with information introduced in the OV-7 • CV-1, CV-2, OV-2, OV-3, OV-5, OV-6a • Delete the instruction slides when OV-7 completed
