What You Need to Know About Online Resources at Cal • This is a public university that promotes broad access • Anyone who walks onto a UC campus is an “Affiliate” under UC database licenses • That means you have access to 35 million dollars in licensed, electronic content that firms would have to pay for • Union researchers: walk on campus to our library, get extensive access for no cost Research Skills | IRLE Library

  4. Corporate and Business Research: Three Strategies • Ask us for help—we can save you time • Learn to take maximum advantage of the well-organized UC Berkeley Library Web • Remember that people are often the best resource providers— “network” as you go, and keep track of contacts • Past Labor Summer Cohorts have depended on us throughout the summer! • It’s a good idea to develop systematic research habits now—they’ll help you for the rest of your life Research Skills | IRLE Library

Ask Us for Help! • Many of you are doing this—please don’t hold back • We use the databases a lot and can provide both tips and research on demand • We try to keep up with the changing landscape of the online industry—and they’ve changed a lot this year • We are part of national and global networks of like-minded reference providers—we can ask them for assistance as needed Research Skills | IRLE Library
