The Black Plague • Bubonic Plague: severe chills, fever, convulsions and vomiting. • Dark spots on skin and swollen glands; led to gangrene (decaying of flesh) • Most died within days; known as the “Black Death”
How it Spread • Rats were carriers of the disease. • Fleas would bite the rats and become infected with the disease. • Fleas would then bite people and transfer the disease to them. • Most of the population was poor. • Poor people did not keep as clean as the wealthy and millions died.
