She won the National Medal for Literature and the Edward MacDowell Medal in 1984. McCarthy died of lung cancer on October 25, 1989 at New York-Presbyterian Hospital in New York City.

Graduating from Harvard in 1940, he entered the Navy In 1943. He married Jacqueline Bouvier on September 12, 1953. In 1956 Kennedy almost gained the Democratic nomination for Vice President, and four years later was a first-ballot nominee for President. His famous quote was “ask not what your country can do for you ,but what you can do for your country. “President Kennedy fought for equal rights for all Americans. He called for new equal rights legislation. He wished America to resume its old mission as the first nation dedicated to the revolution of human rights. President Kennedy holds one of the highest approval ratings at 85%.The Vietnam war was still going on at the time.1963 was a surprisingly good year when it came to economy even thought it was forecasted to be bad, but it was a year of good, steady growth. Unfortunately on November 22, 1963, when he was hardly past his first thousand days in office, John Fitzgerald Kennedy was killed by an assassin's bullets as his motorcade wound through Dallas, Texas. The main characters are Jed, Granny, Elly May, Jethro, Duke, The Drysdales, and Jane.The show was a comedy about how the family refused to conform to the Beverly Hills way.I felt that the show is quite funny and all the actors are very fit for their part.If I was around in that time period I would have found the show very enjoyable.
