  1. Establishing a Culture of Responsible Choices (CoRC)

  2. CoRC Program Overview • Background of CoRC • Effects of alcohol/drug abuse among AF members is a pressing concern • Alcohol misuse and illegal drug use are incompatible with AF Core Values • The mis-use of either represents a significant danger to AF mission, morale, and discipline • 40% of Airmen report heavy drinking negatively impacts their work performance

  3. Goals of CoRC • Ultimate goal is zero alcohol-related and zero illegal drug-related incidents • Initial goals: • Reduce alcohol and drug related incidents by 25% the first year • Create a culture that focuses in “workhard/play SMART rather than “work hard/play hard” • Expand existing prevention programs to include the CoRC model

  4. CoRC Strategy • Involves leadership; active, top-down support • Involves the individual; targets moderate and high risk people • Involves base community; includes friends, co-workers, and family • Involves local community; reaches out beyond the base

  5. What Can You Do? • Promote responsible choices among friends and family • Encourage participation in activities and programs that are non-alcoholic related • Volunteer • Model a Culture of Responsible Choices (CoRC)
