Meet Miss Eadie • Lived in Gwinnett County since 1973 • Graduated from Georgia State University in 1993 • Graduate degree in Instructional Technology from Walden University • Taught 1st, 2nd, 3rd, & 4th grades • Additional training in • Lions-Quest Character Education • Instructional Technology • Multiple Intelligences • Brain-Based Learning • SuccessMaker Software

  4. Educational Philosophy I believe that every child can learn, and I will do everything in my power to help your children be successful academically, socially, and emotionally. Since education is a partnership between school and home, I will count on you to reinforce skills that are taught in class. Together, we can help your children become productive citizens!

  5. AKS, GCPS Discipline, & Agenda Books • AKS (Academic Knowledge & Skills) – drives our instruction. It is divided by subject, and you can find literacy standards & spelling lists in the back. **Please sign on p. 4. • GCPS Student/Parent Handbook – Goals, procedures, consequences, & rights. **Please sign on p. 31. • Alcova Agenda Book – Check this each night to see what your kids have done in school!

Third Grade Curriculum • LanguageArts: Scott-Foresman Series (reading, writing, grammar); Rigby Benchmark Reading Assessment; Rebecca Sitton Spelling • Math: Harcourt Math Series; Big 20 Assessments & Exemplars • SocialStudies: Map & Globe Skills; US Government & Geography, Native Americans in Georgia, economics, communities • Science: Habitats, Magnets, Rocks & Minerals, Fossils, Heat, Pollution

  7. Assessments & Grades • AKS, CRCT, Report Cards • Reading Rubrics • Writing Stages • Grading Scale: A: 90-100 B: 80-89 C: 74-79 D: 70-73 U: 69 and below S+, S, N, or U for Health, Specials, & Conduct

Classroom Grading • Academic Grades based on daily work, tests, rubrics, projects, and observation. • Behavior: “On the Road to Good Behavior” • Logical Consequences • Thinking Spot • Rewards: • Whole class works for compliments • Groups work for points • Individuals work for daily behavior grades and the chance for weekly ice cream drawing.

  9. Homework & Expectations • Homework sent home on Fridays – to be completed by the following Friday • Daily Behavior Folder – Please initial every night • Weekly Newsletter – Sent home on Fridays. This contains school, PTA, and classroom information. Reading this will help you stay informed! • Attendance & Attention – Students learn best if they are present in body and mind!

Daily Schedule • 8:20-9:00 – Morning Work/Announcements • 9:00-10:00 – Calendar/Math • 10:00-10:30 – CQI • 10:30-11:30 – Reading Instruction • 11:30-11:55 – Lunch • 11:55-12:30 – Recess/Bathroom Break • 12:30-1:15 – Specials • 1:15-2:00 – Social Studies/Science • 2:00-3:00 – Writing • 3:00-3:20 – Catch-Up Time/Silent Reading • 3:20 – Dismissal
