  5. Vocabulary Definitions Carefully read the word and the definition. A definition provides an explanation of the word.

  6. Definitions The definition helps you understand the meaning of a word. To find the definition of a word, a person may use a dictionary or a glossary.

  7. Orchid Definition: A tropical plant with flowers that grow in many shapes and colors. The Chinese name Lan means orchid.

  8. Special Definition: Different from the others in some way. In Chinese school we learn a specialkind of writing called calligraphy.

  9. Sesame Definition: A tropical Asian plant bearing small, flat seeds used as food and a source of oil. My mom made me cold sesame noodles.

  17. Discovered Definition: Past tense of discover: to be the first to find, learn of, or observe. I wonder who discovered the fossil.

  18. Ancestor Definition: Plural of ancestor: Your ancestors are members of your family who lived a long time ago. My ancestors lived in China.
