  2. Most of the light and heat energy here on earth comes from this source

  3. What is the sun?

  4. This is the name given to the flow of energy from hotter to cooler objects. It is also the random motion of molecules. The more motion molecules have the more of this they have.

  5. What is heat?

  6. As matter is heated it’s molecules generally do these two things.

  7. What is speed up and spread apart?

  8. As matter cools it’s molecules generally do these two things.

  9. What is move more slowly and get closer together?

  10. This is the measure of the hottness or coolness of a substance. It measures how fast or slow the molecules are moving.

  11. What is temperature?

  12. The bending of light as it moves from one material to another.

  13. What is refraction?

  14. This type of object transmits only some light. It scatters the light as it passes through it.

  15. What is translucent?

  16. The bouncing of light off a surface.

  17. What is reflection?

  18. This type of material transmits no light at all. It blocks or absorbs all light.

  19. What is opaque?

  20. This would be the bouncing back of light off of something such as a mirror.

  21. What is reflection?

  22. Energy flows in this direction.

  23. What is hotter to colder?

  24. These are the two commonly used temperature scales.

  25. What are Celsius and Fahrenheit.

  26. These are the 3 ways heat energy can be transferred.

  27. What are convection, conduction, and radiation.

  28. This is how heat energy is transferred through gases and liquids.

  29. What is a convection?

  30. This is how heat energy is transferred through solids.

  31. What is conduction?

  32. This is how the energy from the sun gets to us here on earth.

  33. What is radiation?

  34. All sound waves start with this.

  35. What is a vibration?

  36. Name the type of energy we have spoken of that can travel through a vacuum

  37. What is light energy?

  38. Name the type of energy that we have spoken of that needs matter to travel on.

  39. What is sound energy?

  40. About how fast does light travel?

  41. What is 186,000 miles per second?

  42. This is the change in the direction of a light wave.

  43. What is refraction?

  44. This is when light waves are neither reflected or transmitted.

  45. What is absorbed?

  46. Light waves usually travel like this.

  47. What is a straight line?

  48. We can see colors only when this is present.

  49. What is light

  50. These are materials that transmit all light.
