  5. Location • Ambjørnrød Barneskole lays in the town of Fredrikstad • Fredrikstad lays about an hours driving from the capital: Oslo • There lives 75 583 people in Fredrikstad • The school lays in a farming- and forest area called Veum

  6. School basics • At our school, children starts in 1st grade and finish in 7th grade • Today, 312 pupils go to our school • There are 45 employees at Ambjørnrød Barneskole • After School Care is an offer for every pupil from 1 – 4th grade (to attend ASC the parents have to pay an amount of money) • Today, 130 of our pupil attend to ASC • ASC offers study groups • Every parent is a part of a big advice group called FAU who takes part in our school meetings and is allowed to come with suggestions about changes at our school Our school is relatively new, it’s 22 years old

  8. A typical day 06:45: ASC opens – the pupils get to eat their brought breakfast. To drink, they can choose between tea, water and milk. 08:30: School starts and pupils have their two first lessons. 10:00 – 10:15: Small break 10:15: Pupils have their third lesson. 11:oo – 11:45: Pupils eat their lunch packages and take a long break(30min) 11:45: Pupils have their fourth and fifth lesson. 13:10: Second small break 13:25: Pupils have their last lesson. 14:00: The school day ends and ASC opens 16:30: ASC ends

  11. The pupils go inside and have their third lesson Followed by eating their lunch packages and have their long break

  12. Pupils have their fourth and fifth lesson before they have their second small break

  13. Pupils come back inside and have their last lesson And then the pupils attending ASC go down to sign in Before ASC ends at 16:30

Our healthy food policy • We encourage parents to make healthy lunch packages to their children • We also encourage to bring bottles with water or order our school milk • Fruit and vegetables are served in ASC every day • Every pupil attending ASC gets one healthy meal a day(one day they get cereal and milk and one day a week they get a hot meal. The rest of the days the pupils get healthy, dark bread with different toppings.

Our physicalactivitiespolicy • Every class has two lessons physical education a week • 6th and 7th grade have two more lessons with physical activities in addition to the PE • At our school we have welfare activities led by welfare leaders from 4th to 7th grade (activities around all school property in the biggest break) • We recently got our own ball bunker who is very popular among our pupils • We have great outdoor areas which allow us to have many activities outside every day • We encourage every pupil to walk or bicycle to school every day. Walking competition. • 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade have their own outdoor day in the forest every week
