everyone sins everyone
Everyone Sins – Everyone.

          • I John 1:8, 9 ESV

encouragement
Encouragement
  • What an encouragement to know that if we are sincerely sorry for something, God will forgive us. He tells us this in 1 John 1:9. “He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
  • Once we feel sorry, we need to repent.

The 7 Steps to the Cure of Souls

repentance
Repentance
  • Repentance is:
    • A true sense of one’s own guilt.
    • An apprehension of God’s mercy in Christ.
    • An actual hatred of and turning from sin to God.
    • A persistent endeavor after a holy life and walking with God in the way of His commandments.

The 7 Steps to the Cure of Souls

confess sin regularly
Confess Sin Regularly
  • If you keep unconfessed sin in your life, it will cause a guilt that will eat away at you like a cancer. It can cause anger and bitterness, and can eventually ruin your life if it is not dealt with and confessed.

The 7 Steps to the Cure of Souls

the result of confession
The Result of Confession
  • The result of confession is freedom through forgiveness.
  • God can forgive ANY sin.

The 7 Steps to the Cure of Souls

god can
God Can
  • You might think you have a sin in your life that is too much for God to handle. You might think, “Oh! You don’t know what I’ve done. God wouldn’t forgive me for _____” (you fill in the blank).
  • You are WRONG.
  • God already knows everything you have done in your entire life, and He is eager to forgive you.

The 7 Steps to the Cure of Souls

god knows
God Knows
  • God sees everything about you and knows everything about you.
  • “And there is no creature hidden from His sight but all things are open and laid bare to the eyes of Him” (Hebrews 4:13).
  • God knows, and God loves you anyway, and He is eager to forgive you.

The 7 Steps to the Cure of Souls

unconfessed sin
Unconfessed Sin
  • It cannot be stressed enough that unconfessed sin can cause a plethora of problems, such as depression, anxiety, anger, guilt, and feelings of hopelessness.
  • Many of these problems are commonly seen in the psychologist’s office where unconfessed sin is diagnosed as an illness.

The 7 Steps to the Cure of Souls

you are responsible
You Are Responsible
  • You are responsible for your own sin.
  • Confess it.
  • Repent of it.
  • Tell God you’re sorry.
  • The way you respond to sin is more important than the sin itself.

The 7 Steps to the Cure of Souls

your response to sin
Your Response to Sin
  • Unconfessed sin becomes a barrier between us and God. Humbling ourselves before God, confessing the sin, and asking for reinstatement back into a place of close communion can easily dismantle it.

The 7 Steps to the Cure of Souls

examine your life
Examine Your Life
  • Do you have unconfessed sin in your life?
  • Do not let it stand between you and God; do not let it sicken your soul.
