Photosynthesis II

This announcement is about a group library project on a genetic disease that requires a PowerPoint presentation and a written report. Students will work in groups of four and cover background information, molecular mechanism of the disease, and recent research on diagnosis, pathogenesis, and treatment. The project is due on the week of October 18th and carries a total of 40 points.

  1. Photosynthesis II

  2. Announcements • There is a quiz next week • Group library project “genetic disease” • >power point presentation and a written report • >work in groups of 4 • >the presentation and the report should cover • the following • :background information. • :molecular mechanism of the disease • :recent research on diagnosis, pathogenesis • and/or treatment • >due on the week of October 18th& it is of 40 points

  3. Photosynthesis Experiment of the last week -the bicarbonate buffer worked as positive control -the colored buffers photosynthesis work well at wave length 400-450nm and 650-700nm -Diuron work at very early step of the reaction (photosystemII) and it block release of oxygen. While DBMIB work in a step later than DCPIP and it does not block the release of oxygen. -DCPIP, the reaction will continue b/c it work in a step latter than photosystem I

  4. Today • we will perfrom the photosynthesis on a molecular • level with DCPIP as electron acceptor (Hill reaction) • -the hyposythesis (question) “is the rate of Hill • reaction (photosynthesis) is dependant on intensity of • light?”

  5. Lab. report • it worth 40 points • It is group lab report • It has to be formal. There is an example lab. report • that you can use it as a guide and it is posted on the • server. • abstract 10 • introduction 7 • material and methods 5 • results 8 • discussion 10
