  1. Standardization activities on Broadband Wireless Access in CCSA CCSA Global Standards Collaboration (GSC) GSC-15

  2. Research scope of CCSA TC5 WG3 Wireless access group of wireless telecommunication technical committee of CCSA (CCSA TC5 WG3) was setup in 2003. More than 40 members,8 observers.

  3. Evolution of SCDMA system SCDMA is a wireless access technology developed by Beijing Xinwei Telecom Technology Incorporation. • Service: fixed voice • Frequency: 400MHz/1800MHz • Mainly applied in rural areas McWill ( Mutimedia trunking system) McWill(Broadband SCDMA) Narrowband SCDMA • Service: data, voice, trunking service • Application: business users • Service: data, voice • Frequency: 1800MHz • Supporting high speed data access

  4. Timeline of SCDMA standardization Narrowband SCDMA Broadband SCDMA SCDMA multimedia trunking system 2010 2007 2008 2004 2006 2009 Project started Standards for approval

  5. Efforts on International BWA Standardization • In November 2009, CCSA put forwarded McWill(Multi-carrier Wireless information Local Loop) technology to ITU-R. • McWill was finally accepted as one BWA air interface of ITU-R M.1801 recommendation at ITU-R WP5A session. • Key Technical Characteristics • TDD/code-spread OFDMA(CS-OFDMA) • channel bandwidth of multiple of 1 MHz up to 5 MHz. • multiple antenna techniques • QPSK, 8-PSK, 16-QAM and 64-QAM for both uplink and downlink

  6. Next Steps/Actions Development of Standards • Wireless ad-hoc network • Zigbee • Air interface, Equipment Specification, test methodof new generation of SCDMA. • UWB air interface specification • WLAN air interface • Other technologies Research Cooperation • Liaison with IEEE 802 • Cooperate with other SDOs

  7. Supplementary Slides

  8. Standards of SCDMA (1) • Standards published • YD/T 1487-2006 400/1800MHz SCDMA wireless access system technical requirement • YD/T 1488-2006400/1800MHz SCDMA wireless access system: test method • YDC 044-2006 400/1800MHz SCDMA wireless access system: technical requirement for air interface protocol • YDC 047-2007 400/1800MHz SCDMA wireless access network system:test method for air interface protocol • YDC 046-2007 400/1800mHz SCDMA wireless Access Network System:Point to Point Short Message Service

  9. Standards of SCDMA(2) • Standards published • YD/T 1956-2009 Technical requirements for air interface of 1800MHz SCDMA broadband wireless access system • YD/T 1989-2009 Test method for air interface of 1800MHz SCDMA broadband wireless access system • Standards to be published • Technical requirements of SCDMA broadband wireless access system • Test method of SCDMA broadband wireless access system • Technical requirements of SCDMA broadband wireless access system terminal • Test method of SCDMA broadband wireless access system terminal
