  6. Section Views

  7. Limit Switch Reliability • There have been no reported failures of this switch in the field for the past 10 years (several thousands sold). These are featured on several types of valves that we sell. • This valve is designed for 50,000 cycles. The individual switch reliability is far better than this. And there are two of them. • There are dozens of these in service right now at ALS with no reports of limit switch failures with thousands of cycles of operation.

  8. Limit Switch Assembly senses true close and open (tri-state feedback) Slot for position indicator tang Open and Closed visual position indication

  9. Switch Dimensions / Details 43 mm paddle travel 41 mm switch gap 2 mm over travel 2 mm Fabrication tolance 3.2 mm (1/8” overlap ) 7.2 mm total overlap 43 -7.2 = 35.8 eff. opening 40.1 ID – 35.8 = 4.3 over hang

  10. Solid Stainless Gate Details Paddle in “Closed Position” Clear-aperture: 40.1 mm Gate overlap: 7.2 mm

  11. Gate Failure scenarios Thermal Loading Information: At 1 Watt, the paddle should not exceed 70 C. We expect design to be suitable for steady state gate temperatures up to 250C. VAT has not tested maximum absorbed power capabilities. Steady state FEA radiation models might be available on request. Pin Joint Failure: If fixation pin comes out halfway, it will interfere with the bushing and the Open limit switches will not be asserted VAT has never experienced this failure mode and considers it extremely unlikely. Paddle Pin or Web Failure If the paddle were to become disconnected it would fall to the bottom of the body and it is large enough to ensure the clear aperture is covered with out gaps. Overlap in ‘fallen’ condition
