The main objective of the Ufficio Scolastico Regionale (regional educational office - USR) is to set up a qualified school, in order to give all the students of Umbria the best learning and growing opportunities.
The model of governance of the Umbrian educational system is based on an inter-institutional synergy which involves the USR (regional branch of the Ministry of Education), the local administrations, together with the University, the Foundations, the economic and productive world, public and private councils, by setting up a system which wishes to place itself as an interface among different cultures and individuals, even on a European point of view.
In order to help the achievement of the objectives the USR, through the territorial school nets, organises training courses for teachers, in such a way that the schools may be stimulated and guided to set up teaching and operative paths and to put them into practice, in a logic of development and vertical curriculum. The school nets are developing training courses on the following themes:
Definition of a vertical curriculum based on the competences and teaching realization of some segments
Definition and realization of models of continuity in teaching
Evaluating by competences
Teaching paths for the linguistic communication
Teaching paths for students with special needs
Teaching paths for the achievement of competences on maths competences and teaching realization of some segments
Teaching paths to learn literacy and numeracy
Teaching paths to learn how to learn
Didactics for the physical education and the conscious use of information technologies
Teaching methodologies for the acquisition of scientific competences and for the environmental education
New methodologies to achieve a citizenship and to learn foreign languages
Experimentation of teaching models for an effective learning.
