CORDIO Report • launched in December in Stockholm in conjunction with the latest GCRMN report. • Contains: • Standard summaries of each sub-regions – South Asia, East Africa and the IOI. • Results of monitoring from each of the 11 countries involved with CORDIO • Special reports from monitoring of SST along the EA coast.

  3. CORDIO Report • Results of Recruitment and bio-erosion studies in Maldives • Reports of the status of reef fisheries, tourism and ornamental fisheries in Sri Lanka • A paper examining the effects of climate change on South Asia • The potential impacts of sea level rise from Chagos • Data compiled for the GCRMN Status Report.

  4. Expedition to Cosmoledo and Aldabra • Conducted in conjunction with the Island Conservation Society of the Seychelles • Funded by Vetenskapsrådet • Multidisciplinary team of 12 scientists • Conducted baseline surveys and established permanent monitoring sites • Rapid surveys of several sites at Aldabra • Sea temperature loggers deployed • Report of expedition will be available soon

  5. South Asia • Establishing a community based Socio-economic monitoring program for coral reef in the Lakshadweep Islands • Baseline survey of coral reefs in Batticaloa • Additional components added to Tuticorin project in India • Sustainable coral reef tourism

  6. IUCN collaborationstrengthened • plans for a joint CORDIO/IUCN/GCRMN programme in Sri Lanka • Plan a number of joint publications • CORDIO using IUCN network to distribute reports

  7. Funded several participants at ITMEMS 2 • Extended collaboration with Reef Base
