  1. Selection of Key Requirement Elements for Baseline FR-EM Document Date:2011-05-12 Authors: Minho Cheong, ETRI

  2. This submission is for selection of key requirement elements for baseline FR-EM (Functional Requirements and Evaluation Methodology) document. Abstract Minho Cheong, ETRI

  3. As described in 11/0747r2, key requirements needs to be selected by straw polls in the task group to make an initial draft of the FR-EM document. Plan to have straw polls on the potential key requirement elements after all the presentations during this week are done. Straw polls on approach for evaluation methodology is also to be done. This purpose is for preparation to make an baseline FR-EM document. With the use of these straw poll results, I will try to make an initial version of “TGah Functional Requirements and Evaluation Methodology (FR-EM) document” until the upcoming conference call after Palm Springs meeting. Background Minho Cheong, ETRI

  4. Meaningful threshold by which key functional requirement elements can be chosen is 75% agreement in TGahgroup (not counting “Abstain”) It may be also possible to include additional elements in the upcoming F2F meetings if the majority of the task group can agree on those. In the long run, the mature version of that document (FR-EM) with which TGahwill trya first official approvalmay be ready until this Autumn. Background (2) Minho Cheong, ETRI

  5. TGah Functional requirements • These requirements are derived from the document “11-10-0001-13-0wng-900mhz-par-and-5c”. • TGah amendment must address the functional requirements defined in functional requirements document. • As defined in Selection Procedure document(0238r2), TGah functional requirements document also include evaluation methodology (network simulation scenarios) • They are an small set of very essential and key requirements without which we cannot call the amendment TGah. • Each requirement in the FR-EM document had better be described as a normative text without any specific number as possible. Meaning of Functional Requirements Minho Cheong, ETRI

  6. Requirements Section • Elements inherited from the TGah PAR document, such as coverage, data rate, WLAN experience, coexistence. • Other essential and key requirements element as a brief normative text, without which we cannot name it TGah. • Evaluation Methodology Section (depending on CM) • PHY performance • Comparison criteria • Traffic model • Network simulation scenarios • And so on. Potential Contents of TGah FR-EM Documents Minho Cheong, ETRI

  7. As follows: Straw polls on Requirements Section Minho Cheong, ETRI

  8. Do you support adding the following as one of key requirement elements to the requirements section in TGah FR-EM document • US band (902-928 MHz) for TGah minimal supported band • Yes: • No: • Abstain: Straw Poll on Minimal Supported Band Minho Cheong, ETRI

  9. Do you support adding the following as one of key requirement elements to the requirements section in TGah FR-EM document • Coverage up to 1km (as described in the PAR document) • Yes: • No: • Abstain: Straw Poll on Coverage Minho Cheong, ETRI

  10. Do you support adding the following as one of key requirement elements to the requirements section in TGah FR-EM document • Aggregated data rates are supported > 100Kbps (as described in the PAR document) • Yes: • No: • Abstain: Straw Poll on Data Rate Minho Cheong, ETRI

  11. Do you support adding the following as one of key requirement elements to the requirements section in TGah FR-EM document • Coexistence with IEEE802.15 and IEEE802.15.4g • Yes: • No: • Abstain: Straw Poll on Coexistence Minho Cheong, ETRI

  12. Do you support adding the following as one of key requirement elements to the requirements section in TGah FR-EM document • Maintaining the 802.11 WLAN user experience for fixed, outdoor, point-multi-point applications • Compatibility with the existing 802.11 standard and its amendments • Yes: • No: • Abstain: Straw Poll on WLAN User Experience Minho Cheong, ETRI

  13. Do you support adding the following as one of key requirement elements to the requirements section in TGah FR-EM document • Number of associations beyond 2007 for outdoor • Yes: • No: • Abstain: Straw Poll on Number of Associations Minho Cheong, ETRI

  14. Do you support adding the following as one of key requirement elements to the requirements section in TGah FR-EM document • Efficient power saving feature shall be used • Yes: • No: • Abstain: Straw Poll on Power Saving Minho Cheong, ETRI

  15. As follows: Straw Poll on Approach for Evaluation Methodology Section Minho Cheong, ETRI

  16. Do you support adding the following as a basic set of simulation scenarios (3 scenarios) to the evaluation methodology section in TGah FR-EM document • From Use Case category 1 (sensors and meters) • Outdoor (or mixture of indoor/outdoor) with extremely large number of nodes • Indoor with moderately large number of nodes • From Use Case category 3 (extended range Wi-Fi) • Outdoor with moderately high data rate • Yes: • No: • Abstain: Straw Poll on Approach for Evaluation Methodology Minho Cheong, ETRI

  17. Do you support adding the following as an additional simulation scenarios to the evaluation methodology section in TGah FR-EM document • Overlapped BSS for outdoor services • Yes: • No: • Abstain: Straw Poll on OBSS Scenario Minho Cheong, ETRI
