  • Simplicity-Simplicity of the story will help the audience understand what is happening. Don’t cloud the story with too many details.

  • Accuracy-Makes the presentation believable and precise.

  • Consistency-Keep all the items in pantomime the same size, shape, weight and in the same place.

  • Exaggeration-Make the action in pantomime bigger than life, helping the audience see your action with more clarity.

Creating an object
Creating an object

Creating an object in pantomime requires several steps. Using all five steps below helps us to cleanly, believably create objects that the audience can “see.”

  • *Focus (Visualize) the object. See it in your mind.

  • *Reach (Approach) the object. Move toward it.

  • *Take (Establish space) the object. Make contact with the object. Tell the audience its location, size, shape, weight, etc.

  • *Accent Do something with it.

  • *Release (let go of) the object. Take your hand away from the object – let go.
