Money • Remember – school will be funded at the beginning of 2014 Fiscal Year (July 2014) • Must have Certificate of Occupancy of Educational Purposes on file at OCS. • Fundraise • Every dollar shall have a name • Long-Term financial planning • Avoid the overwhelming lease/loan just to open the school). • Facility contingency plans (i.e. Invest Collegiate) • Over 95% of closed NC Charter schools is the result of poorly managed finances

  5. Do Not Forget About • Adhere to bylaws and adopted policies • Open Meeting Laws • Must be adhered to after final approval • If you do not have a policy – DO NOT make one up! • Your application IS the implementation plan • Non-Negotiables: Integrity towards your program

  6. Defined • “Living with integrity means: Not settling for less than what you know you deserve in your relationships. Asking for what you want and need from others. Speaking your truth, even though it might create conflict or tension. Behaving in ways that are in harmony with your personal values. Making choices based on what you believe, and not what others believe.” ― Barbara De Angelis
