Preliminary Research Plans for Mapping Bowser Formation and Basin Geology in 2004/05

This research project aims to study Bowser stratigraphy and structure, Skeena Group relationships, biostratigraphy, geochronology, and basin-wide thematic studies to gain insights into energy resources and petroleum systems in the mapped areas. The project includes multiple mapping teams and interdisciplinary studies to compile comprehensive basin maps and reports.

WHATS NEXT… PRELIMINARY RESEARCH PLANS FOR 2004/05 Mapping: Bowser stratigraphy and structure - west central and east central basin (ca. 6 mapping teams including grad. student) Skeena Gp and Bowser/Skeena relationships - south-central basin Biostratigraphy and Geochronology: in mapped areas (+ Sustut Gp compilation) Basin-wide thematic studies: Energy resource studies, including AFT interpretation; paleomagnetism followup studies; bitumen and vitrinite reflectance data release and interpretations; petroleum systems data and interpretations; preliminary petroleum assessment. Multi-isotopic provenance studies. Map compilation and reports: Continued interpretation and write-up of 2003 fieldwork; release preliminary basin compilation map at 1:500K; 104H A-series maps (1:250K and 1:50K) to be released, 94D maps (1:250K/100K), and revised versions of published 94E, 103P 1:50K open file maps.
