Study of the book of Job • Our First Emotional Response to our Difficulties – Job 6 and 7 • Why does God do this to me or allow this to happen to me? – verses 1-4 • We must be careful not to rationalize our personal difficulties! – verses 5-10
Study of the book of Job • We must be careful not to describe ourselves based on what we are not! – verse 11-13 • We must be careful to not define what we do not see and experience based on what we do see and experience. – verses 14-21 • It’s tough to experience unexplainable and seemingly undeserved suffering. – verses 22-24
Study of the book of Job • People should be careful, not to take what has happened to others or what should happen to others and use that as the reason things are happening to you. – verses 25, 26 • People, especially our friends, should always be mindful of our own weaknesses and shortcomings as they attempt to identify ours. – verses 27-30
Study of the book of Job • Chapter 7 - Difficulty, disappointment, failure, and tragedy can make you feel like it is the end…but it is not! • We must be careful not to search for bad comparisons to our bad experiences, we will get more than enough of that from others. – verses 1-6
Study of the book of Job • Our difficulties can cause us to feel that our seemingly too short, miserable life will NEVER SEE HAPPINESS AGAIN! – verses 7-10 • If we are not careful, our pain along with the bad ungodly advice from others can cause us to rebel against everything, including God! - verse 11-21
Study of the book of Job • Chapter 8 - For Every Complicated Problem, there is a Simple Solution and IT IS WRONG! • Bildad (BILL-DAD) the Shuhite (SHOE-HIEGHT) – ANOTHER FRIEND OF JOB • Human Rationale + Bad Theology = Wrong Assessment • God is just, He only punishes the unjust, you are being punished, therefore you are unjust. - verses 1-7
Study of the book of Job • Even when it looks, TO EVERYONE, as if you may have done something wrong before God; know this, YOU ARE THE ONLY ONE WHO KNOWS! – verses 8-22 – 11, 13, 16-19, 20
