Erasmus programmeinnumbers 2. 1997 : Hungary joins the Programme • 35000 students benefited so far in Hungary (800 in 1998 and 4200 in 2010) • On average in Hungary the number of incoming students is lower than the outgoing (250 in 1998 and 2700 in 2010) While at BME the incoming and outgoing flow became BALANCED erasmus.bme.hu

FINAL NOTE • Erasmus is a great and highly successful European program • All other non-European bilateral or governmental exchange programmes have the same added value • For EU institutions Erasmus is an excellent base for further worldwide cooperation. • Erasmus Mundus is such an extension But there are non-European examples too: E.g.: Science Without Border is part of the Brazilian government's larger initiative to grant 100,000 scholarships for the best students from Brazil to study abroad at the world’s best universities. erasmus.bme.hu
