  9. Warm-Up • Warm-up activity on screen to be completed everyday when tardy bell rings • Turn in every two weeks • 5 pts everyday • If absent, choose 10 vocab words from the unit and write them in a sentence in Spanish • If no school, mark out that box.

  10. Class activities • We will do a variety of activities everyday in class • 10 points everyday • I will not collect everything. If you choose to not participate in the class activities, your grade will be affected whether the activities are collected or not

  11. Stamp Sheet • Each unit will have a stamp sheet • Show you what you can do with the language • In class stamps vs. hw stamps • 10 points for each stamp. Total points will change every unit. • Stamp sheet is due at the end of the unit. • If you lose the stamp sheet, you have to start all over with the stamps

  12. Unit Assessments • At the end of each unit • Assess what you can DO with the language • NOT grammar based • A combination of speaking, reading, writing, and/or listening • **ALLOWED to redo if unhappy with grade

  13. Common Assessments • End of semester assessments • You will be responsible to know all the material from each semester for the assessment • Several day assessment due to different parts • *NOT allowed to REDO

  14. Project • Each semester, you will choose a topic related to the Spanish culture to create a 5-7 minute presentation about in ENGLISH. I have a list of topics to choose from or you can add suggestions.

  15. Cheating!!! • If you cheat on any assignment, you will receive a zero for that assignment and your parent/guardian will be notified. You will not be given a make-up assignment. • Cheating includes copying another person’s work and claiming it to be your own, making cheat sheets, talking during a quiz/test (even if you are finished), sharing answers, etc. • Using online translators to do your work for you is cheating because you didn’t do the work- the computer did. Additionally, they are notoriously inaccurate, so they are not a good reference tool.

  16. Work from other class • Do NOT work on anything from another class in my room • Other work will be collected and not returned • If you are copying another student’s work from mine or another class, both people’s work will be collected and not returned • If it is work in my class, you will receive a zero

  17. Help/Tutoring • Come see me if you need help. I am here everyday after school until at least 3:OO PM. • If you are interested in tutoring another student let me know. (Beta and NHS hours)

  18. Extra Credit • There will be no extra credit • Remember, you are ALLOWED to REDO unit assessments if you are not happy with your grade.

  19. Bathroom/Locker • NO locker passes • May not go to the bathroom the first or last 10 minutes of class. • Do NOT abuse your bathroom privilege • If sick, GO to the bathroom!

  20. Borrowing/Using stuff in classroom • Ask in SPANISH! • Do NOT touch my computer unless given permission

  21. End of class • Stamp time (exit slip) • Clean up around you • Must stay in a seat • Do NOT stand at the door for the bell to ring if we finish early

  22. Absences • YOU are responsible for getting makeup work • Get notes from a classmate • See stamp sheet on the board. Need to be able to do the stamp covered that day. • If you miss an assessment, make up is before or after school • Long term assignments due day of return

  23. Tardies • The door closes when the bell rings • If you have a note, knock and come in quietly and give me note • 5 tardies= referral

  24. Important things to know • Main focus of the class is: what can you DO with the language, NOT what you know about it • I will do as much as I can to help you. I am your number one cheerleader. Please let me know if you are struggling with something • You will need computer and internet access outside of class to complete some assignments. Computer assignments are given far enough in advance to find a computer if there is not one at home.

  25. Random • Announcements- Any time there are announcements on the intercom, I expect you to be quiet. It is important that we can hear them. It is usually something YOU need to know. • 1st period- Pledge of Allegiance. I will not make you say it, BUT be respectful to those who want to

  26. How many Spanish classes do I have to take??? • Honors Program - PASS two of the same language classes. 2 Spanish, not 1 Spanish and 1 French • Advanced Program - PASS three of the same language classes. 3 Spanish, not 2 Spanish and 1 French **It’s important for you to pass so you can graduate on time.
