  2. Being in a hurry in the back country can be a difficult problem for anyone who is unprepared.

  3. But with some knowledge, a few tools of the trade, and a little moxy any potential “natural disasters” can be avoided.

  4. First step is to get yourself at least 200 feet away from any water source, camp site or trail. I promise, no one wants to run into what you’re about to leave behind.

  5. Once you have found a good spot where no vegetation will be damaged; to pee on the ground in most areas is acceptable. Males are encouraged to write their names in order to distribute the urine and keep it from concentrating in one spot.

  6. Solids need help from bacteria to degrade, so using a hole that is 6”-8” deep works great. Save the top piece from the hole to place over the top when done.

  7. Picking a position may be some peoples biggest struggle.

  8. Used paper should not be burned but buried deep in the hole so that it is never visible. Cause that’s just gross.

  9. And never make the rookie mistake of forgetting your hand sanitizer.

  10. RECAP-be prepared with the right equipment-find a good spot 200 feet away from water, trails, and camps-dig 6”-8” hole remembering to save the top-pick a position -do your worst-bury the paper deep in the hole, replacing the top chunk of soil-apply hand sanitizer-enjoy sweet relief
