Community Programs CAHEC funds and administers the Supportive Services Coordinator Initiative and Six Community Programs: • Resident Wellness Center 137 Installed since 2000 • Technology Learning Center 152 Installed since 1999 • Community Grant Program 263 Funded since 2000 • Adult Scholarship Program 488 Recipients since 2000 • Senior Recognition Program 746 Participants since 2005 • Youth Recognition Program 424 Participants since 2004

CP Division • Maintain website with current documents • Perform CP orientations • Update promotional materials and supply to site personnel • Send orientation packets to new sites • Process incoming applications • Work with site personnel to administer programs • Oversee Art Contest for CAHEC holiday card • Administer writing workshops in conjunction with NCWN • Evaluate and modify programs

User-Friendly Process • All applications were revamped in 2008 so we don’t request any information we don’t need • RWC & TLC applications are only one page • Guidelines are simple and straightforward • All documents (guidelines, FAQ’s, applications, promotional flyers) can be found on our website • CP staff is accessible and knowledgeable Local Superheroes Katherine Occhipinti and BJ Aungst

Compliance Manager Support • Review Community Programs and supportive services during annual site reviews • Supply promotional materials to property managers • Encourage onsite personnel to take advantage of programs • Provide feedback to CP staff based on knowledge of site Irish Holmes at Six Flags over Georgia with Youth Recognition Program

  9. Adult Scholarship Program • Program requirements: • 2.75 GPA minimum • Renewal application each semester • Up to $1000 or $2000 per year • Noncompetitive • Application process is simple • Pays for tuition, fees, books & supplies

  10. Adult Scholarship Program • Allows residents to further education • Provides increase in earning potential • 13% of recipients would not have attended school without scholarships • 66% would weigh scholarship in decision to move

  12. Senior Recognition Program • Program requirements: • 100 hours of activities • One social event • One fundraiser • All CAHEC residents 55 & older are eligible • Reward is an onsite event or choice of one of 4 CAHEC planned trips • Timeliness and accuracy of documents are essential

  13. Senior Recognition Program • Increases activity level of individual residents • Improves site morale • Boosts resident involvement in community events • Provides opportunity for getting to know neighbors

  14. 2013 CAHEC Award Trip Options • One night stay in Asheville, NC • Two night stay in Williamsburg, VA • Two night stay in Myrtle Beach, SC • Three – four night CRUISE • Each year CAHEC will choose 4 destinations to offer sites!

  16. Youth Recognition Program • Program requirements: • Good behavior, attendance, grades • 10 hours of community service • One fundraiser • Timeliness and accuracy of documents are essential • Site recruits mentors • Everyone attends a group trip! • Dollars for A’s

  17. Youth Recognition Program • Improves student behavior and grades • Keeps youth busy and out of trouble • Provides opportunity to meet people from other areas • Gives participants chance to travel places they’ve never been • Teaches students to give to community
