About research • Joint project of Transparency International andGallup International, which is conducted already5year in a row • This year research is conducted in 69states and territories with total of 73.132 examinee • Field research in Serbia is conducted in November 2008, at national sampleof 1015 examines which represents complete population (central Serbia and Vojvodina). Research was conducted byTNS Medium Gallup using the method “face to face”

  3. How would you assess your current government's actions in the fight against corruption?

  4. Evaluation of Government • Average evaluation of Government’s efficiency in fight against corruption is slightly worse in regards to previous year (from 2,40 to 2,38) • Although research was done in the period when important anticorruption laws were adopted (nov. 2008), that wasn’t enough for improving citizens’ impression – that impression can be improved only by implementing these laws • Regardless of fight against corruption being high on the list of priorities, citizens still can’t see the effects

  9. If someone paid a bribe, how certain would be the delivery of the service or the resolution of the problem after payment?

  12. How serious do you think is in this country the problem of bribes being paid to land authorities to obtain favorable decisions?

Direct experience of citizens with corruption • 18% says that they themselves or member of their household bribed in the past 12 months • 73 % of examinees claims that they didn’t • 9% examinees “doesn’t know” or doesn’t want to answer to this question • Results are similar as in previous years

  14. What was the amount of bribe (in the past 12 months) • 68% says that they didn’t bribe at all • 3% says that the value was under 30 USD (approximately 2000 RSD) • 3% says that value was between 30 and 100 USD (between 2 and 7 thousand RSD) • 4% says that value was between 100 and 500 USD (between 7 and 35 thousand RSD) • As much as 23 % refuses to answer or “doesn’t know”
